Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC. Starting with the 2005 revival, the production team abandoned the traditional serial format for a largely self-contained episodic format with occasional multi-part story and loose story arcs, similar to the style of American dramas such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer or The X-Files. The 2005 series constitutes a loose story arc, dealing with the consequences of the Time War and the mysterious Bad Wolf.
